Jaiza N. Page A former assistant city attorney for Columbus, Ms. Page is credited with handling over 800 nuisance property cases as part of the zone initiative. She litigated nuisance cases involving motels and hotels, apartments, liquor establishments, vacant and abandoned houses, solid and hazardous waste, sewers and salvage yards. Ms. Page also advised various city agencies, including Development, Building and Zoning Services, and Health, as it related to nuisance and environmental matters. Her work in these areas continues as an of counsel attorney for Eastman & Smith. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Page was appointed, and then elected to a four year term, as a member of the Columbus City Council. Ms. Page is the current chair of the Zoning, Housing and Recreation and Parks Committees. Ms. Page also worked as a civilian employee for the National Guard Bureau, J-7 Staff which focused on joint doctrine, education and readiness with an emphasis on homeland security and defense. Additionally, Ms. Page spent some time working on Capitol Hill.
Joseph R. Durham As the chair of Eastman & Smith’s Environmental and Public Law Section, Joe Durham coordinates the Firm’s Environmental, Public Law, and Solid Waste Management Practice Groups. After completing law school with a certificate in environmental and natural resources law, he was appointed as the first environmental prosecutor for Franklin County, Ohio. He has litigated environmental cases at the local, state and federal level as a Franklin County assistant prosecuting attorney and a special assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Ohio. Mr. Durham is a pioneer in litigation before the Franklin County Environmental Court and has litigated nuisance cases involving drug houses, prostitution and human trafficking, apartments, condominiums, motels, hotels, illegal gambling and race tracks. He has also litigated cases involving nuisances, solid and hazardous wastes, construction and demolition debris, landfills, recyclable materials, sewage, water and air pollution. Mr. Durham is the author of the Environmental Investigation Resource Guide.
