Enclosed is an application for membership in the Ohio Municipal Attorneys Association (OMAA) for the year 2008. Over the years municipal lawyers have grown used to the OMAA holding seminars packed with topics of current value to municipal lawyers. We intend to continue CLE seminars on a standard of excellence.
But we need to have an active membership to support the funding of our association. We are six months into a membership drive. We currently have 151 members. Our goal is 250 members for 2008. This means that we will need to retain our current members and enlist 100 new members. We need your help by having your city of village renew its membership, if you are already a member, or to become a member of the OMAA if your city or village is not presently a member.
A membership application is enclosed. The 2008 annual membership dues are as follows: $725 for cities, $550 for villages with a population over 2500, $250 for villages with a population of 2500 or under. Those lawyers that choose to pay the dues from firms or personal funds will be counted as the municipality’s membership.
Our costs have increased substantially, but membership dues remain very low.
Membership includes a newsletter to be sent to members not less than nine times per year. The newsletter has undergone changes that make it more valuable to you and it is provided to you quicker by e-mail delivery. Without active members, there would be no ability to hold the regional and state-wide CLE programs. Whenever there is legislation that needs our attention the OMAA either lobbies directly or in cooperation with the Ohio Municipal League (OML). The OMAA supplements the OML’s amicus brief program, when desirable, to keep the judiciary aware of municipal lawyers’ views on how the case law should develop.
Act now. Join or renew your OMAA membership!
