Municipal Law Seminar

2010 Membership Application

Email Consent Form

To: City Law Directors and Village Solicitors

From: John E. Gotherman, General Counsel

Enclosed is an application for membership in the Ohio Municipal Attorneys Association (“OMAA”) for the year 2010. Over the years municipal lawyers have grown accustomed to the OMAA holding seminars packed with topics of current value to municipal lawyers. We intend to continue CLE Seminars on a standard of excellence.

But we need to have an active membership to support the funding of our association. We are at the beginning of a membership drive for 2010. Our goal is 250 members for 2010. This means that we will need to retain our current members and enlist 100 new members. We need your help by having your city or village renew its membership, if you are already a member, or to become a member of the OMAA if your city or village is not presently a member.

A membership application is enclosed. The 2010 annual membership dues are as follows: $775 for cities and $600 for villages over 2500 population and $300 for villages 2500 and under population. Those lawyers that choose to pay the dues from firms or personal funds will be counted as the municipality’s membership.

Our costs have increased substantially. For the year 2010 the increase in dues is only $25.

Membership includes a newsletter or special bulletins to be sent to members not less than nine times per year. The newsletter has undergone changes that make it more valuable to you. Without members, there would be no ability to hold the regional and state-wide CLE programs. Whenever there is legislation that needs our attention the OMAA either lobbies directly or in cooperation with the Ohio Municipal League. (the “OML”). The OMAA supplements the OML’s amicus brief program when desirable to keep the judiciary aware of municipal lawyer’s views on how the case law should develop. I am available to talk with municipal lawyers on phone calls relative to issues.

Act now. Join or renew your municipalities membership!
